In October 2011 we were granted funding by the Big Lottery Local Food Programme for a two and a half year project. Since then we have set up a network of 10 training hubs across England who have delivered the Community Composting for Local Food Growing Course to local food growers. Anaerobic Digestion (AD) is a scalable technology, yet in Europe it is most frequently applied at a large industrial scale; whereas in the developing world small scale AD is the norm. Inspired by this and its’ members needs, the Community Composting Network (CCN), is developing very small AD units for decentralized, on-site treatment of waste and production of fertilizer and energy.
